Trends of different wage components from 1985 to 1995 are presented for selected occupational groups in Norway. We find neither that the use of wage components in addition to the base-wage is a major phenomena in Norway, nor that the importance of additional wage components has increased during the observation period. The wage components most workers receive in addition to the base-wage comprise only a small part of the total wage. Very few occupational groups have additional wage components in excess of 10 percent of the total wage. Athough these groups are among the higher wage earners, this is not a gender trend, i.e., we cannot say that additional wage share is increasing with the level of base-wage. Finally, we find evidence that men receive higher additional wages than women, independent of the occupational gender ratio.
