Central values in Scandinavian management are equality, informality, decency, and conflict avoidance. This characteristic style of management is an advantage in the increasingly knowledgebased economies of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. However, not all Scandinavian management is good management. These are some of the conclusions in the book. The authors analyze strategy, organization, conflicts and cooperation between managers, relations between managers and operators, and the importance of participation and trade unions in the factories. They compare companies from all three countries in the following industries: breweries, furniture, food and confectionary, and ship yards. The empirical material is mainly interviews with 70 managers and shop stewards, in addition to written material from the companies, and visits to production units to get and understanding of how they are organized.---Management in Scandinavia will be of interest to students and teachers of international management, as well as practitioners of business and management."Unconventional, rich of facts and stimulating perspectives.
