An analysis of the party platforms showed increased attention to environmental and climate issues in 2009. This was particularly due to a more profound focus on climate change. Moreover, public opinion had moved in a more environmental friendly direction.  Both parties and voters take positions on climate issues which are compatible with findings from previous analyses of “traditional” environmental issues. However, the new debate on climate change deviates in one aspect: quite a few voters are concerned about climate change, but not equally engaged in environmental issues.
